The Sound (Seattle's Sound Transit Anthem) by Blue Scholars

Hip hop group Blue Scholars put together an anthem for Seattle’s Sound Transit entitled “The Sound”. The track promotes the Sounder train, which travels between Tacoma and Seattle, and talks about the scenery and amenities on the transit route. Washington riders get zoomin to the sound. They even toss in some safety tips. Stay safe traveling on the train. Ride safely and often on the Sounder train from Seattle to Tacoma. You can download the track FREE here.

Lyrics to The Sound (Seattle’s Sound Transit Anthem) by Blue Scholars

I woke up in Tacoma
missed my ride back to seattle, drama
but oh, there’s a train station close
for five and some change get a ride back home.
Standing on the platform, The Physics in my headphones
nah take em off — so I can Hear the train comin
train coming, “stop” — now im going home
green scenery puttin me in a zone
Rainier: that mountain is the best bro
Whatup Museum of Glass? Whatup Tacoma Dome?
getting my nap on, seats so comfortable
I like the bus too, but this here is wonderful.
Free wireless, even got a restroom,
wave hi to a lady as I pass through
she’s like, “hey you’re the guy from that rap group?”
I’m like “that’s right” … she’s like “that’s cool”

…. zooming through the sound
zooming through the sound zooming zooming through the sound
zooming through the sound zooming zooming through the sound
these trains move fast – so don’t play around

Then we crossed the King-Pierce line,
zooming through the sound & didn’t even have to drive!
Got a text from the homie who was like
“check out this picture of me on my bike.”
He’s on his bike near the train track line
acting like he didn’t read the warning signs.
I’m like nah brah, that’s not tight
you playin near the tracks, you playin w/ your life.
Cuz if you see the lights all flashing bright red
don’t be dummy and use your head.
Look both ways when you’re crossing the tracks.
He replies, “man that’s the longest text you ever sent.”
Pick up more passengers at auburn and kent
almost home, i stretch my arms and i’m set.
Arrived in seattle hit up chinatown for food
and ran into Sabzi eating hella good, after….

…. zooming through the sound
zooming through the sound zooming zooming through the sound
zooming through the sound zooming zooming through the sound
these trains move fast – so don’t play around
