Now comedian Ali Wong is spoofing the controversial ad playing up the over the top stereotypes with workers in the rice field to math smarts to eating dog to Chun Li in Street Fighter. Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra ran a super racist campaign ad in Michigan during the Super Bowl. Most of the country did not see it, but it’s gone viral on the internet. The political ad entitled “Now” tries to bring down his opponent Debbie Stabenow for her reckless spending. However, the campaign used an Asian woman on a bike speaking broken English “thanking” US for jobs in China while stereotypical music plays in the background. It doesn’t end there. This racist ad comes complete with a racist website here with rickshaw fonts galore and why China sucks. Debbie Spend It Now. Pete Spend It Not. What is this stuff?

The President and First Lady send their best wishes to everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year. For the holiday, President Obama recorded a message sending his best wishes to all those celebrating the Lunar New Year, both in the United States and around the world. Here’s his message:
Michelle and I want to send our best wishes to everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year, including Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Growing up in Hawaii, I remember all the excitement surrounding the Lunar New Year – from the parades and the fireworks to the smaller gatherings with family and friends. It has always been a time for celebration and hope. And this year, as Americans here at home and around the world welcome the Year of the Dragon, it’s important to remember that our country is stronger because of our diversity. We are richer because of the different cultures that make up this country.
So to all those celebrating the Lunar New Year, I wish you and your loved ones peace, prosperity, and good health.
