Help fund Page Turner : Asian American Literary Festival

On October 29, 2011, celebrate both the twentieth anniversary of the Asian American Writers’ Workshop and our landmark literary festival at Page Turner: Asian American Literary Festival. It’s the only event of its kind that commerates the stories and ideas of the Asian American literary community. They invite readers and writers of all backgrounds to come hear the brightest voices of American writing, politics and comedy: Junot Diaz, Amitav Ghosh, Teju Cole, Aasif Mandvi, Siddhartha Deb, Hari Kunzru, and Jessica Hagedorn, who we are honoring with a lifetime achievement award. They’re like the TED of Asian American literature, but with more booze and better battle rhymes!

CLARA C announce her upcoming tour the Shakin The Silence Tour. She’ll be hitting up 7 cities coast to coast in United States and Canada in promotion of her debut album, The Art In My Heart as well as unveiling new songs of her upcoming album. Kollaboration is returning to New York in September 2011. They’ll be bringing the nation’s biggest Asian-American talent show to New York for the sixth time. Seven extremely talented performing artists will be competing against each other for the $1000 grand prize and a chance to compete at the National Kollaboration LA show! The 2011 Kollaboration New York is slated to have an amazing 2011 line-up of competitors including:

2011 AAIFF short film lineup

The 2011 Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) is underway in New York and their short lineup is loaded up. You can expect over 50 short films that have been divided into 8 presentations. The short films admitted to this year’s festival showcase the latest works by filmmakers of Asian descent as well as films that explore themes and issues prevalent to the Asian community.

Relive your childhood with NEVER STOP BELIEVING. Ride the ups and downs in love with LOVE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE. With all the talk about Tiger Moms, what about the TIGER DADS. Nothing is as is seems with A DAY LESS ORDINARY. A special youth program will also feature the works of filmmakers under the age of 21 with AGE AIN’T NOTHING BUT A NUMBER. NYC students from the City University of New York present their shocase of CUNY SHORTS. Hong Kong comes to New York with QUATTRO HONG KONG 2, while Canada invades with SUITE SUITE CHINATOWN.

The 2011 AAIFF will run August 10 through August 20, 2011 in New York City. Short films will screen at various venues including Chelsea Clearview Cinema, the Quad Cinema, and the Museum of Chinese America. The full short film program line-up is as follows. If you’re in the New York area, the 2011 NY Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) kicks off tonite with partying throughout the week. On Friday, get out to the best party of the Festival! The perfect union of music and film at AAIFF’s annual music video showcase plus live performance.
