Help fund UPLOADED: The Asian American Movement

There’s a new documentary being developed about Asian Americans in entertainment. Five years ago, it was nearly impossible to name 10 recognizable Asian American entertainers. Even more problematic was the lack of acknowledgment of this issue. Much like channelAPA.com, the film “UPLOADED: The Asian American Movement” seeks to to uncover the extent to which Asian Americans have utilized new media such as YouTube to infiltrate American popular culture and where this momentum will lead. Advances in online media in the past decade have seen an increase in the historically limited presence of Asian faces in American entertainment. It will focus on the current struggles and successes of leading Asian Americans–from new media creators to long-time industry professionals–in the areas of music, film, and dance.

The film features a list of who’s who in Asian American entertainment including AJ Rafael, Cathy Nguyen, Clara C, David Choi, Feats in Inches, George Shaw, Jennifer Chung, Jesse Barrera, Michael Carreon, Paul J Kim, Scott Yoshimoto, Jane Lui, Paul Dateh, Wong Fu Productions, Victor Kim, and more.

The Bollywood Project

The Bollywood Project

Exploring beyond the glitz and glamour of Bollywood films, The Bollywood Project is a feature-length documentary that exposes the reality of four artists rarely acknowledged in the film industry, and what it means to dream big in Bollywood. These are the workers whose physical labor is required on sets, the creative artists who are responsible for the look of top celebrities, the performers who are thrown in amongst dozens of others in a song-and-dance number. The film uncovers the stories of four characters working behind-the-scenes in Mumbai, India’s ‘city of dreams’. An international production team has documented these people’s lives for the last three years. Get the real feel of what it’s like trying to survive in the concrete jungle of Mumbai. This documentary film is set to release in 2012. Learn more about the film here.

Just as she’s beginning to have genuine feelings for him, however, Lucy discovers that he’s a serial killer whose victims all resemble her. Still, though, there’s no way she’s walking away from those lottery checks, even if it means losing her mind and re-burying all the bodies…

The film hits theaters on July 15, 2011.

Lucky Trailer

Lyrics to I Choose Happiness by David Choi

If you wanna be goofy, go right ahead
It’s fine with me
If you wanna do something, that’ll make you happy
By all means, please

Those bad days come and go
But it’s ok though
You see, we have a choice
And I’m gonna make the best of it

I choose happiness
I choose peace
I choose beauty and love, love, love, love
I choose grace
I choose joy
I choose life, and love, love, love, love

Doo, doo, doo…

You can go paint a picture or go fly a kite
Enjoy your life
Don’t go around with that sad face
Life’s too short to live that way
Choose to be happy

Those bad days come and go
But it’s ok though
You see, we have a choice
And I’m gonna make the best of it

I choose happiness
I choose peace
I choose beauty and love, love, love, love
I choose grace
I choose joy
I choose life, and love, love, love, love (3x)
