Jon and Kate Plus 8 Season 5 premiere

Season 5 of Jon and Kate Plus 8 premiered on Memorial Day. For some background about what happened over the last few months read Jon & Kate Plus 8 Affair denied.

This was the most depressing episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8 we have ever seen. Interviews were done separately. Giving cold shoulders to each other at their own kid’s 5th birthday party. Paparazzi are everywhere at their home, where they shop, even at the kid’s party. Jon and Kate were not the same as we’ve seen them in previous seasons. Jon is opting out of various activities and Kate wants to promote her book Multiple Blessings. There are a lot of complex issues between Jon and Kate, but both say they are doing everything they can for their kids. The saddest part was when they answered what will happen in the future, but neither could answer.

If you want to catch the episode on TLC, they be running episodes often. Look for “Turning 5 & The Future!” here.

2009 National Geographic Bee Champion Eric Yang

Thirteen-year-old Eric Yang of Texas swept the toughest National Geographic Bee to date—with a perfect score. The Griffin Middle Schooler from The Colony, Texas won the annual competition during a tie-breaker round with this question: “Timis County shares its name with a tributary of the Danube and is located in the western part of which European country?” The answer is Romania. By winning the competition Eric Yang gets a U.S. $25,000 college scholarship, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, and a trip to the Galápagos Islands with Jeopardy! host and GeoBee moderator Alex Trebek.

Yang was one of ten finalists whittled down from 55 fourth to eighth graders during the GeoBee. The 55 contestants had beat out nearly five million students in their state bees to earn spots in the national championships. Second place goes to 14 year old Arjun Kandaswamy from Oregon.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 Affair denied

Kate Gosselin of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” vowed Thursday to survive the tabloid firestorm that erupted over allegations that her husband cheated on her, a charge he denies.

Rumors of an affair have been lingering since February 2009. These past few weeks things really picked up. Us Weekly claims that Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad Jon Gosselin, 32, has been having an affair with third grade school teacher Deanna Hummel. However, within the same week Deanna Hummel, 23, tells PEOPLE exclusively, “We’re just friends. It’s absurd that anyone would think otherwise.” Jon Gosselin has released his own statement this week too, “Like most people, I have male and female friends and I’m not going to end my friendships just because I’m on TV. However, being out with them late at night showed poor judgment on my part. What makes me sick is that my careless behavior has put my family in this uncomfortable position. My family is the most important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt them.”

Multiple Blessings – Jon and Kate Plus 8 Book

Kate Gosselin tells the amazing story of how she and her husband, Jon, have survived the overwhelming odds of birthing not only twins but also sextuplets in three years, and how they continue to strive every day to honor Christ while he teaches them to thrive in spite of emotional, financial, social, and physical exhaustion.

Eight children in three years? Impossible!

Kate and Jon Gosselin have learned that, through God, all things are possible—though sometimes slightly improbable. Just three years after giving birth to twin daughters, Kate and Jon learned they were pregnant again—with sextuplets. In Multiple Blessings, Kate candidly chronicles the emotional and exhausting challenges she and Jon faced from the time the babies were conceived through the first two years of their lives.

This amazing story of faith provides a heartening lesson in what it means to trust the faithful hand of God to provide the strength and courage to make it through life’s seemingly impossible situations. The daily lives of their family are chronicled on the hit show Jon & Kate Plus 8. They are frequent speakers at churches and other events and live in central Pennsylvania. You can read a couple of pages from the book here.
