Jon M Chu x DKWAN

Jon M Chu x DKWAN

Last August, there was a Youtube dance studio contest sponsored by Dr. Pepper’s new product “Dr. Pepper Cherry”, which was looking for the “smoothest” dancer. The grand prize winner was decided by Jon M Chu & YouTube voters. DKWAN submitted his entry the day before the deadline and was quite surprised to experience a crazy amount of exposure in less than a week. DKWAN ended up winning the Youtube dance studio contest and the grand prize, which included flying to Los Angeles and working with director Jon M. Chu (the guy behind LXD and other dance videos).

During February 25-27, 2011, DKWAN met director Jon M Chu and claimed his prize. He put together a 26 minute video of his adventure with included hanging out with D-Trix and the LXD crew. One of out favorite spots in the video is the 5:28 mark. DKWAN wears a channelAPA T-shirt and dancing to Like a G6 in his hotel room. Check out more of what’s going on with DKWAN on his site here.

Over the weekend, a video of two Asian American boys dancing to “Hey Ya” by Outkast on the Wii was picked up by sites around the internet and drew nearly one million views Saturday. See the twins Justin and Jeremy sing and dance to the game “Just Dance 2”. Actually, Justin is more the singer, Jeremy is more the dancer. Whole lotta shimmy and shakin’ going on here. Hey Ya….. OH-OH!!!

So much young Asian American talent these days. Last month, we saw Asian Mini Warbler performing Teenage Dream and Raise Your Glass. We even got B-boys Lil Demon x J-Styles in American Apparel commercial.
