Funemployed – Episode 7

Funemployed - Episode 7

Friday’s installment of Wong Fu Productions’ Funemployed continues with another fun-filled episode. This is where things start to get a bit more interesting, as Ryan Higa (nigahiga) issues a challenge to come up with the best music video idea for a $50,000 cash prize and an opportunity to be in his next video. Looks like the guys are going to have to call in the big guns for help. Far East Movement Interview by Complex Magazine

FM Interview with Complex Magazine

Complex Magazine has posted an interview a few days ago with Far East Movement on their website. You can check out both parts 1 and 2 here.

You can read a blurb from their interview as well:

Far East Movement? The name might not ring a bell, but you’ve probably heard their songs before. The California rap trio’s impressive resume includes spins on premier radio stations (L.A.’s Power 106), and music being featured on prominent television shows (CSI: Miami, Entourage ) and Hollywood blockbusters (“Round Round” in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and “Girls On The Dance Floor” in Get Him to the Greek). Originally formed by Kev Nish, Prohgress, and J-Spliff (DJ Virman joined later on) in Koreatown, Los Angeles, the three high school friends started out performing shows to raise money for a local drug rehab center. As time went on, the clique pushed their careers with an impressive DIY approach that earned them two world tours, a string of music videos, and two full-length albums.

It’s always great to see Far East Movement making huge strides in the news. They manage to cover several points in their interview, focusing on their passions, influences, and the hard work that they put in to get where they are at now. They have recently been working hard on their major label debut with many notable artists such as Snoop Dogg, Bruno Mars, and Sean Kingston. Stay tuned for more from FM!

TechCrunch Interview with Jeff Ma

TechCrunch Interview with Jeff Ma

We came across an interesting interview with Jeff Ma, who you may recognize as a member of the infamous MIT blackjack team that the movie “21” was based off of. It is interesting to note that the main character was loosely based off of him, and was portrayed by a Caucasian actor. From there, Ma went on to co-founder a sports start-up, Citizen Sports, which Yahoo acquired this past March.

In this video interview, Ma discusses everything from blackjack, to the new Facebook movie (based on a book written by the same author who wrote Bringing Down The House, Ben Mezrich, whom Ma knows well), his Yahoo deal, as well as Ma’s own book, The House Advantage: Playing the Odds to Win Big In Business. It is definitely worth the watch for any of you interested in starting up your own business.

The LXD – Episode 1

The LXD coming 7.7.10

“The LXD”, or “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers” web series by Jon M. Chu that we posted about last month has finally arrived. The series revolves around ordinary people with extraordinary abilities through dance, and while the struggle of good and evil and how to use/defeat it is still the main focus of “The LXD”, this group of unlikely heroes and villains have a set of skills that really differ from that of Batman and The Joker. In episode 1, Trevor Drift, a seemingly ordinary teenager, will soon discover his extraordinary abilities at his senior prom.

You can watch The LXD episodes on Hulu. It’s amazing work, and we can’t wait for more episodes to be released. Check it out.

Funemployed Episode 6 is out, and the guys are already facing some difficult challenges of making videos. First and foremost, making money. Unfortunately Kyle didn’t think things all the way through, and making videos don’t necessarily mean easy money. What’s the next best alternative? Garage sale. Watch and find out what happens. Kina Grannis makes another guest appearance.
