The reigning two-time National League Cy Young winner pitched 8 innings giving up 3 hits including a homerun, but had 10 strikes including 3 in the third inning. He becomes the fifth pitcher in World Series history to have 10 or more strikes in a clinching game. Not only did the Giants win their first Series since relocating from New York to San Francisco in 1958, but they also earned baseball’s biggest prize for the first time since 1954 — ending the Majors’ third-longest dry spell.
