Hot on the heels of a new report showing that Asian Americans are the largest wave of new immigrants to the United States and the fastest growing racial group in the country, a new video entitled “Invest in Asian America” highlights the global characteristics of Asian Americans. The video calls out Asian American economic contributions to the global economy in the United States and in Asia. The fast-paced, 2-minute video uses motion graphic typography to showcase the transnational nature of Asian Americans with these points:
- Largest group of immigrants coming to the U.S.
- 33% send money back home
- 59% of all Asian Americans have family residing in their country of origin
- 60% of Asian Americans travel back and forth to Asia frequently
- Asian American community’s embrace of social networking technology (internet is link to ethnic homeland)
- Asian American entrepreneurs – the most likely group to start a business
- Asian American contributions to the U.S. economy (top leaders at Yahoo! Four Square, Google and others)
It points to the use of new technology among Asians and economic exchange as ways that Asian Americans can play a key role in the development of global organizations and cross-border relations. The video also encourages multinational companies to invest in the development of the Asian Americans in the workforce.
