Mixed Blooms is a comedy about a bi-racial family who runs a suburban flower shop. The series follows Kim Fluge (Teresa Huang, FX’s “The Riches”) and her husband Brian (John Schaffer, 2011 Dances With Films selection, STAN) as they attempt to keep their little flower shop afloat while raising a curious teenager (Cortney Lee). Here’s more about episode 1 of Mixed Blooms:
Kim’s competition, Mega Market Mary, pays her a vist and has a surprise. Meanwhile, Kim’s daughter, Morgan, gets love advice from floral designer and “sexually liberated woman” Jessica.
You might notice something a little different about Mixed Blooms– it features Asians in leading comedic roles that don’t fit a stereotype. It also includes more women and minorities behind-the-scenes, and strives to show that diversity and commercial viability can live happily together.
