R&B singer A.I. shares some of her work shw’s done in Japan and the US. She is a multi-talented artist who has become widely known as one of the top divas of R&B throughout Asia today.
Born on November 2nd in Los Angeles, between a Japanese father and a part Italian-American mother who has introduced A.I. to tap dancing and music. A.I. has cherished her childhood in a multi-cultural environment. She was astonished at the age of 12, when she first was exposed to the power of gospel choir at the First AME church. She pursued music and dancing at the performing art school in LA (LACHSA). In 1998 A.I. took part as a member of the choir team for Mary J. Blige’s concert at the Universal Amphitheater. The following year, she appeared as a dancer in Janet Jackson’s music video “Go Deep.” In 1999, she returned to Japan and debuted with BMG with a record “My Name Is AI”. She signed with Def Jam Japan two years later, as the first female vocalist from the label. In 2005, she released a smashing hit single “Story” which sold over 4million copies in Japan.
As to date, she has recorded seven original albums and bound for releasing the 10th anniversary album “THE LAST A.I.” including tracks featuring Snoop Dogg, Chaka Khan, Boyz Ⅱ Men, K’NAAN, Judith Hill and Namie Amuro that indicates her future global aspirations. In 2011, AI signed with EMI enabling her to pursue her international career.
