Comedian Margaret Cho dropped yet another music video “Asian Adjacent” off her Grammy-nominated “Cho Dependent” album. For “Asian Adjacent,” she teamed up with singer-songwriter Grant Lee Phillips, who also appears in the video. In the song, she directly attacks Asian stereotypes (how many can you find?), while calling out people who look Asian but aren’t. They’re just Asian adjacent. Black hair and almond shaped eyes.
See her previous music videos off the album including Captain Cameltoe, Intervention, Eat Sh*t and Die, I’m Sorry, Lice, and Hey Big Dog.

Lyrics to Asian Adjacent by Margaret Cho
Do people ask you what you are
Because your eyes
and your hair are dark?
Or you’re not exactly white
But I can’t say “you’re black”
Your friends say you are polite
and the girls always got your back
I wondered what the look on their face meant
I think you are Asian adjacent
You might be a Mexican
or a Cherokee
Or perhaps you’re just a nice racial potpourri
You got one of those faces
And almond shape to your eyes
You could be from lots of places
Like Alaska or Ha-Ha-Hawaii
(Chorus x2)
I wondered what the look on their face meant
I think you are Asian adjacent
