The new controversial movie “Three Veils” dealing with women’s issues is making the film festival rounds. It deals with some intense topics as we bridge traditions with the modern world. Here’s more about the movie:

“Three Veils” is a poignant film that follows the stories of three young Muslim women living in the U.S, each with her own secret. As the three stories unfold, the lives of these three women intertwine as they each struggle to defy tradition and create their own realities. They struggle with identity, independence, faith, and sexuality.

Leila (Mercedes Masöhn) is engaged to be married, however as the wedding night approaches, she becomes less and less sure of how her life is playing out.

Amira (Angela Zahra) is a very devout Muslim, but is dealing with her deep repressions about her intimate feelings toward women.

Nikki (Sheetal Sheth) is acting out her promiscuity as she battles her own demons after a tragic death in the family.
