In his latest video “This is Me”, Young Chariz talks his journey in the music industry. Chris “Chariz” Contreras out of Vallejo, CA. has been rapping, singing, and producing music since he was 11 years old. His first musical projects started off with a local group known as “Groundbasics.”
Chariz signed a deal with the record label Go Bigg Music Group in the summer of 2009, with hopes of taking it to the next level. That same year, he released his first project with Go Bigg Music Group entitled “The Resurrection,” with a couple notabe songs. “Somebody Like You” is a track on the album which features Filipina R&B artist Michelle Martinez, while another single from this album, “Rock the Party” has also topped the charts as the #1 song on Canada’s Winnepeg FM radio station, 104.7 for three weeks.
2010 was a very busy year for Chariz releasing the mixtape “Checkmate” in February, the very popular collaborative album with SMG’s Mike Dash E entitled “The Funeral” with tracks like Baby What You Drinkin and most recently, “The Leader of the New School.” His highly anticipated solo masterpiece, “It’s Curtain’s”, is scheduled for release in the June 7. 2011. Fellow Filipino artists such as, J. Voqalz, Jayne Rio, Nump Trump, Bambu, Mike Swift and others, are featured on these projects along with the upcoming “It’s Curtain’s” album.
