Tonight’s new NBC Thursday lineup might be the first time we’ve seen some sort of Asian American representation in every show in the primetime block for a network. The lineup of the 3 hour primetime block consists of a six comedies including “Community,” “Perfect Couples,” “The Office,” “Parks & Recreation,” “30 Rock” and “Outsourced”. It’s comedy done right all night. Here’s the breakdown of the actors and actresses of Asian descent tonight:
Community : Danny Pudi as Abed, Ken Jeong as Chang
Perfect Couples : Olivia Munn as Leigh
The Office: Mindy Kaling as Kelly Kapoor
Parks and Recreation : Aziz Ansari as Tom Haverford
30 Rock: Maulik Pancholy as Jonathan
Outsourced: Parvesh Cheena as Gupta, Rebecca Hazelwood as Asha, Rizwan Manji as Rajiv, Anisha Nagarajan as Madhuri, Sacha Dhawan as Manmeet, and lots of background extras
Plenty of Indian American representation. Also of note is that the only show that had any sort of accent is Outsourced. However, the show takes place in India. We hope to see more Asian American representation on the other networks too.
Bollywood dance on from Outsourced to be shown in primetime on NBC
