Beatrock Music, the independent record label home to Bambu, Otayo Dubb, Power Struggle, The CounterParts, and Bwan is celebrating its first birthday! Now a year deep in the music scene with six releases under its belt, Beatrock Music has a lot to celebrate. To mark the occasion, the label is putting on two events. The first will be on December 10th at The Cellar in Long Beach. The second will be the following evening on December 11th at Pier 23 in San Francisco. Both events promise to be chock-full of live entertainment, from live music by label musicians to live artwork by the Beatrock Artists Kollective.
From San Francisco, to Long Beach and beyond; BEATROCK MUSIC has musically championed the voice of a generation, offering music fans more than the standard Top-40 fare. Since their launch in January 2009, label head Eric “Fatgums” Strand, has established BEATROCK MUSIC as the home for a diverse line up of artists.
Strand has nurtured and grown BEATROCK MUSIC from the beginning. “I started BEATROCK MUSIC to provide a platform for socially progressive artists. I wanted to help create their music. I wanted to share their music with the world.” 6 releases later, and 4 more albums in the works, next weekend marks BEATROCK MUSIC’s 1 year anniversary.
Honoring their endeared relationship to West Coast independent Hip Hop; Eric “Fatgums Strand” and his BEATROCK MUSIC family will take the party to two cities. First stop is Long Beach, California. “Our listening audience is politically and culturally active” says Strand. ”Most of whom gathered in Long Beach at a local Art Gallery/ Store, Beatrock. BEATROCK MUSIC is about continuing the safe space for artists to show their work. That’s why the 1st part of our celebration is here. Then we’ll take it to San Francisco!” Similarly, the Bay Area is home to a socially conscious and creative crowd. “A lot of our artists are based from the area. I wanted to have their fans and supporters be able to join in the party”
