Toronto-based independent filmmaker and broadcasting graduate Jeffrey W. Pike has recently wrapped production on a short film which he wrote, directed and produced entitled “Love and Defiance”. The film stars up and coming Toronto-based actors Jailar Tabugay and Bobbi Jaye in a dramatic tale of courage and strength set in a poverty-stricken inner city. Love and Defiance was shot in Toronto, Hamilton and Brampton, Ontario. “I made this movie primarily for the younger generation. It has an urban/hip hop tone to it but the themes and emotions that I’m trying to convey with this picture can be felt by audiences of any age.” Jeffrey said.
Jeffrey W. Pike collaborated with up an coming Filipino actor and musician, Jailar Tabugay on this project. “Working with Jailar was great. He did a great job with his character, Fredo. Fredo is the lead protagonist in the story. He takes his acting seriously and is very dedicated to giving the best performance he can. This was a great collaboration. I look forward to working with him again,” says Pike.
Love and Defiance has been submitted to International Film Festivals worldwide for consideration. Jeffrey Pike and his cast eagerly await a response from festival programmers.
