It was fun while it lasted for Anop Desai (aka Anoop Dawg aka the desi Dawg), but alas he ws eliminated from American Idol Season 8 this week. The two song he sang this week were “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” (Bryan Adams) from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and “Dim All the Lights” (Donna Summer). (Downlaod his perforamnce on ) Not a bad run for Anoop Desai since he got on with a wildcard spot. He hung in there longer than most people expected.

We might see more Anoop in the future. He was recently apporached by PETA India to do a video supporting their Animal Birth Control campaign to “implement humane methods of controlling companion animal populations in slums” in India. Apparently, he’s got a big following in India.


Indian Entertainers have gotten huge visibility in the US with Slumdog Millionare as well as Anoop Desai’s performances. We look forward to more Asian Americans breaking through the US market in 2009.
