Junichi Tazawa is introduced as the newest member of the Boston Red Sox this past week. The 22 year old opted to skip the Japanese pro baseball league and instead jump straight into Major League Baseball in the US. The right handed pitcher signed a $3.3 million, three-year deal with thte Red Sox. According to scouting reports, Tazawa throws in the low 90 mph range, with a changeup, curveball and slider that he can throw for strikes. He will join fellow Japanese pitchers Daisuke Matsuzaka (aka Dice-K) and Hideki Okajima in Boston.
Dice-K is helping the Red Sox on and off the field. Apparently, Daisuke Matsuzaka helped recruit Tazawa. If you recall, Dice-K shut down the Rays to in the ACLS playoffs this year.
