As quickly as the Japanese game show remakes stormed American TV networks, they are now stumbling into problems. Recently, ABC was sued over Wipeout. Now it is “Hole in the Wall“‘s turn. Ratings for the show have been rough drawing a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49. This makes it one of the least watched shows on network TV programming in its time period. With the low ratings, Fox has pulled the show off the air with 16 episodes stuck in limbo. In its place, Fox will show repeats of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares.
The news is also a major blow to FremantleMedia Enterprises, which bought international rights from Fuji TV. We guess millions of views on YouTube doesn’t necessary translate to TV ratings. This also will not bode well for iaTV, which changed their focus over the summer and had layoffs.
